Hope of Family is working tirelessly to reduce extreme family through strong and efficient children education. Many research confirmed that family poverty, child dropout, low school attendance rate for children, illiteracy of parents and other adult people, and low level of parental involvement in children education are big barriers to education for children. Globally, more than 64 million (9.14%) primary school students dropped out of their education in 2020 (UNESCO Institute for Statistics (UIS) global database,2021). In Rwanda, Children’s dropout rate in primary school is 9.5% at the national level while is 3.6% in the Muhanga district, (Rwanda Year Book 2021). 13 % of children aged 7-11 years do not attend school (UNESCO Institute for Statistics global database,2021) at global level, 10.1 % of children aged 7-11 years do not attend school in Rwanda while is 3.9 % in Muhanga district (5th Rwanda Population and Housing Census, 2022).

About 9.2% of the world, or 719 million people, live in extreme poverty, on less than the international poverty line of $2.15 per day (Measuring Poverty. World Bank, 2023). 38.2% of the Rwandan population is still living in poverty while 16.0% living in extreme poverty. 32.6% of Muhanga district population is still living in poverty while 13.8 % living in extreme poverty (5th Rwanda Population and Housing Census, 2022).

The global illiteracy rate for all people aged 15 and above is 13% (World Bank Data, 2020). The adult illiteracy rate (15 years and above) in Rwanda is 21.2% and 24.9% in Muhanga district (5th Rwanda Population and Housing Census, 2022).

Hope of Family is committed to supporting the rural community of Muhanga district through different areas of interventions that are aimed at responding to the problems mentioned above. We have an ambition of having families living in hope and able to support their children education.
